What to Expect for 2012

Published December 23, 2011 by gweledydd

I won’t be posting much until after January first.  There will be plenty of deals, but not many new coupons until the end of the holidays.  Since prices are already so low, not many companies put out high dollar coupons.  However, there will be some changes to my blog!

Beginning in January, the new address for this blog will be vacouponqueen.com!!!  Yes, that’s right, I am making this into a full-fledged website.  As a result, you can expect more posts and more savings!!!

Sometime after the holidays are over, I will also be appearing on DYKAB: Do You Know About the Bird?.  This website is run by a family friend, Josh Dick, and he has requested that I appear on his podcast show to talk about couponing.  He discusses all kinds of things, but mostly discusses video games, tv, and other “nerdy” things.  It’s a pretty awesome little site for anyone who is one with their inner geek.  Check out his website and I will keep you updated on when the show will be up!

HOT CVS deal on 12-Pack Coke Products

Published December 16, 2011 by gweledydd

********UPDATE!!!!!!********

Starting tomorrow, CVS will have print-off coupons at the coupon center for 3/$8.00 on Coke products!  So your transactions would be like this:

Transaction

5 12-pack Coke products = $20.00

Use $5.00/$20.00 = $15.00

Use 3/$8.00 = $11.00

A $1.00 savings may not seem like much, but in the long run it will pay off!

******************************************************************************************

Attention all couponers!  CVS has a GREAT deal this week on 12-packs of coke products.

STOCKPILERS: HEADS UP!!!!

At first glance, the sale price 3/$12.00 doesn’t seem like that good of an idea.  However, iheartcvs has a link to a printable coupon from the Kansas City Star newspaper that makes this a great stockpile item.  There is a $5.00/$20.00 coupon as well as a coupon that makes the 12-packs 3/$9.00.  The downside is you can only use one of the 3/$9.00 coupons in a transaction.  The soda is also a gift card deal this week.  Here are my recommended transactions.  Remember, if you are not a stockpiler you can still do these transactions in a smaller size to fit your needs.

Transaction 1

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

– 3/$9.00 Coupon = $12.00

Total: $12.00 for 5 12-packs + Earn $20.00 towards gift card reward

Transaction 2

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

– 3/$9.00 Coupon = $12.00

Total: $12.00 for 5 12-packs + Get $10.00 Gift Card back + Earn $10.00 towards gift card reward

Transaction 3

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

– 3/$9.00 Coupon = $12.00

– $10.00 Gift Card = $2.00

Total: $2.00 for 5 12-packs + Get $10.00 Gift Card back

Transaction 4

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

Total: $2.00 for 5 12-packs + Earn $20.00 towards gift card reward

Transaction 5

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

– 3/$9.00 Coupon = $12.00

Total: $12.00 for 5 12-packs + Get $10.00 Gift Card back + Earn $10.00 towards gift card reward

Transaction 6

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

– 3/$9.00 Coupon = $12.00

– $10.00 Gift Card = $2.00

Total: $2.00 for 5 12-packs + Get $10.00 Gift Card back

Transaction 7

5 12-Packs Coke products = $20.00

– $5.00/$20.00 Coupon = $15.00

Saving for College by Using Coupons

Published December 6, 2011 by gweledydd

If you thought saving for college was next to impossible, for another day, or if you were praying your kid was good enough and poor enough to get scholarships and grants, FEAR NO MORE!!!  You can save for your child’s college education by using coupons!

Saving Star and UPromise have partnered up to help you save money for college.  UPromise is an online rewards program run by Sally Mae.  There are several ways you can utilize this into your saving plan.

How can you earn with Upromise?

Here are just a few ways:

Upromise Online Shopping

Earn 1—25% back at over 800 online retail and travel sites.

Upromise Dining

Get up to 8% back at thousands of restaurants — on food, drinks & tip!

Upromise Grocery

Up to $40 a month in eCoupon offers at thousands of stores.

Upromise Credit Card

Earn 1% back on all your purchases, all the time.

Savings earned through these programs can either be put into a high yield savings account, invested, put towards existing student loans, or you can request a check for your earnings.  This is a great way to help build your child’s college fund or even pay down your existing student loans.

The coupons on UPromise are run by Saving Star, which is a similar program.  Every month Saving Star will load new coupons that you can load directly onto your store cards.  Instead of taking an amount off at the register, it will load the coupon amount into an online storage account.  Once you reach $5.00, you can then choose to release the funds to a bank account or request a gift card.

CVS Trippin’ 12/3 cont. & Kroger Trippin’ 12/3 – Final Tally

Published December 4, 2011 by gweledydd

So my scenario earlier was unfortunately inaccurate.  I didn’t realize that the cheap boxes of ziploc bags were Hefty brand, so I couldn’t use my ziploc coupons.  Also, it completely slipped my mind that the Hangover 2 doesn’t come out until Tuesday, plus the store in Bedford didn’t have the items I wanted/needed so I had to go to the Madison Heights store which will only apply the % off coupons to non-sale items (whereas Bedford automatically applies it to the whole order regardless of the coupon language).  Long story short, I still got items we needed for a relatively good price.

FINAL TALLY @ CVS

1 Box 45 Count Hefty Cinch Sack Trash Bags – $6.99

1 Box 80 Count Hefty Tie Flap Trash Bags – $6.99

2 Boxes of 6 Count Gallon Sized Hefty Ziploc Bags – $2.00

1 Box 8 Count Quart Sized Hefty Ziploc Bags – $1.00

One Three-Count Pack of Loofas – $1.00

8 Cans of Glade Air Freshener – $0.99

Total cost before coupons: $41.88

Total cost after coupons: $12.76

Hubby is going to get me some Hefty coupons so I can stockpile a few more.  =)

Deals at Kroger this week were pretty good as well.  I ended up getting 16 packs of disposable razors for free, as well as a ton of groceries!  My total cost after coupons was $37.67.  The cashier accidentally entered the wrong amount on one of the coupons, so the total should have been about $6.00 or $7.00 less, but it was late, he was nice, and he added an extra coupon to my order so I didn’t feel like complaining. Total savings was $125.41; a 78% savings!
